Do not be like me and go not expecting much, sorry, I had to admit, especially when you’ve tried some of the world’s best. However, you’ll find that the coffee roasters in this neck of the woods place time and effort into selecting the right beans, packaging them and of course, roasting them to perfection.

Places like Argo Coffee and Prototype have the process down pact. Spirit Bear has been quietly taking over all the resorts and tons of business entities as now many householders have caught on to their excellent beans. 

After careful research, go ahead and read the list of the twelve best coffee roasters in Vancouver and the area I made. Let’s go!

The Best Coffee Roasters In Vancouver

Here are the twelve coffee roasters I chose after in-depth research to make things easier for you:

1. Spirit Bear Coffee Company

Spirit Bear Coffee names its products after animals found in the Northwest region. You may purchase the company’s high-quality coffee company’s products from over 600 places around the country. 

The company is selling “Raven” espresso beans (vivacious and forceful), “Eagle” medium roast (soaring flavor), and “Frog-Breakfast Blend” mild roast (obviously having amusement with their label) to jump-start your day.

Paul Biglin, co-president with Sean Harding, states:

2. Pallet Coffee Roasters 

Pallet Coffee Roasters was a must on our list of the finest coffee roasters in Vancouver! Pallet roasts a massive variety of coffees, ranging from brilliant and sweet Geishas to robust everyday drinkers and one of the finest Espresso mixes I’ve ever tasted (Top Shelf).

With the debut of their large-capacity roaster, their coffee game just became a whole lot greater. Their Panama Geisha was incredible, but if you’re looking for something a little more accessible, try their Top Shelf espresso or the Kayon Mountain Ethiopian.

The Decaf Sidamo is fruity, rich, and full-bodied, and you’ll love it. They never miss a new specialization that they develop.

What I like:

  • Fresh coffee and food
  • Great iced lattes
  • Helpful baristas
  • Nice setting and wifi

What I don’t like:

  • A bit pricey

3. Prototype Coffee 

Prototype Coffee Roasters will spoil for choice of coffee. Once you’re in town, I highly recommend taking your true coffee-loving pals to Coffee Prototype. Why? Because at the bar, they typically have roughly fifteen different coffees!

They roast all of their coffee in the teeny-tiny Bullet R1 roasters, and they do a fantastic job. It indicates they won’t have to think about roasting large quantities all at once.

Their coffee assortment is so diverse that you’ll almost certainly discover something you enjoy, from a nice simple drink to a peculiar Geisha.

While I will generally try the high-end fancy things (Geishas, etc. ), I find that anything they roast from Ethiopia consistently impresses me. It’s always bright and juicy, with a large body.

What I like:

  • A wide array of choices all the time. At least a dozen
  • They will roast the coffee you buy to order(for real)
  • Inside is mindblowing, and so is the coffee
  • Talk about prototype – a grinder that looks like a telescope
  • Cold-brew is awesomely served in small portions for you to try four on a rotating tray, friendly!
  • Everything!

What I don’t like:

  • Look above, I like everything!

4. Harken Coffee

Harken Coffee Roasters’ has only been operational for several months, but their roasting technique, directed by veteran lead roaster Stacey Lynden, has already made a big splash.

Their collection is diverse, but most are light, with bright fruit flavors and tea-like flowers. Their coffee also comes in some of the most attractive packaging I’ve seen in a long time.

Their filter coffee roasts in the spring and summer are clear winners. Overall, they’ve nailed the art of coffee bean roasting, if that’s possible.

What I like:

  • Lovely setting
  • Great coffee selections
  • Amazing and efficient staff
  • Delicious vegan meals
  • Remarkable in-house roasting

What I don’t like:

  • Limited parking
  • Section of town

5. House of Funk Roasting Company 

When it comes to experimenting with new ideas, House of Funk Roasting doesn’t mess around. They continuously push the envelope with the way they obtain and roast coffee.

The most exciting thing they’ve recently begun to do is barrel mature their coffee. Green coffee is placed in whiskey barrels to absorb some of the flavors before being roasted.

Their packaging is colored to reflect the barista’s hues after they first sip the coffee!

You’re in for a mind-blowing experience if you have an opportunity to try any one of their barrel-aged coffee. However, those who are less experimental should cling to their excellent Colombian coffee or robust espresso.

What I like:

  • Coffee roasted in-house

  • Many brewing techniques
  • Amazing espresso
  • Helpful baristas

What I don’t like:

  • Section of town

6. Agro Coffee Roasters 

Agro Coffee Roasters tasting room has regrettably closed, but its roasting program continues to thrive!

They make a variety of coffees, ranging from mild to dark. 

The dark roast is among the few I’ve had where I could distinguish the different flavors. When the temperature starts to rise, this becomes a somewhat challenging task.

The Roasters Choice brand is a favorite among coffee connoisseurs. It’s usually vibrant, fruity, and delectable, especially from Africa or South America.

What I like:

  • Wide selection of light and bright coffee
  • Organic coffee roaster
  • Tasting cafe (should I have said this first?)
  • Vibrant and sweet
  • Great subscription service
  • Affordable
  • Great espresso

What I don’t like:

  • I like everything!

7. Luna Coffee Roasters 

Lüna Coffee is yet one of the west coast roasters which create flavor-packed, one-of-a-kind beans. This roaster is always looking for new and exciting beans with unique flavor characteristics to roast. 

They also put a lot of thought into producing packaging that would look excellent on any kitchen shelf. You can expect light and lively flavors from all of Luna’s coffees! They’ve made a reputation for themselves through the realm of coffee roasting, and with good reason.

Their coffee is consistently delicious, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. The Hazelnut Cookie roast is very popular. If you can obtain a package of it, get it as soon as you can because it looks to be challenging to come by at times!

What I like:

  • Nice bean subscription program
  • The Disco Marmalade
  • Great Quality assurance 

What I don’t like:

  • Mainly for people who like a lighter coffee

8. Modus Coffee Roasters

Modus Coffee Roasters should be considered a Vancouver institution by now as they’ve established themselves as coffee roasting professors. They roast the coffee into distinct characteristics, each with its in-house name.

When people sip their Dom roast, for instance, folks can enjoy a well-balanced, light-medium coffee with subtler flavors than their Latif roast, which is funky and fruity.

There’s a bean for everyone’s taste buds, and they’re all fantastic. The Opus roast is silky, milky, and flowery.

What I like:

  • Chermoula Benny tastes great
  • Nice baristas
  • Fast service 
  • Coffee beans smell amazing

What I don’t like:

  • Beans are more fruity for those who prefer it

9. Timbertrain Coffee Roasters

I’ll be shocked if you haven’t heard of Timbertrain Coffee Roasters previously, as they’re a well-known name in the metropolitan area.

If not, anticipate incredibly high-quality roasts and two fantastic places to enjoy them in.

Going into Timbertrain’s roastery, trying everything that’s on the batch brew, finding what you like, then buying it in bean form is an excellent strategy!

What I like:

  • Great lattes
  • Knowledgeable baristas
  • High-end coffee
  • I love the train-like setup

What I don’t like:

  • A bit pricey

10. Rocanini Coffee Roasters

There was no pomp and circumstance, no advertising, and no pretentiousness. Rocanini clearly illustrates a roaster that settles down to business and consistently produces excellent coffee.

Their roasting crew hosts taster events. Anything that comes from Africa is typically fantastic. When brewed on pour-over, their African and Kenyan coffees have been delightful west coast roaster’s wrapping is brilliantly colored. The beans come from top-rated countries like Jamaica and Yemen, where bean cultivation is in small batches.

The Canadian roaster is a labor of love for a passionate younger team of individuals. Their name, a Latin term for rock, denotes its brand’s foundation in power and dominance.

What I like:

  • The Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Wolde Hirbe Natural is something I wholeheartedly suggest trying. They’re great natural-processed beans with a lot of flavors.
  • The view
  • Baristas very helpful

What I don’t like:

  • Espresso on the weaker side
  • Not comfy to hang out (noisy)
  • A bit pricey 

11. C Market Coffee

C Market Coffee, one of Vancouver’s most excellent coffee roasters, is located at C Market. They have a robust Ethiopian bean that performs well with filter coffee and a superb decaf espresso roast. It’s also fantastic if you enjoy the pour-over.

Their roaster may be small, but the coffee strategy is not! C Market Coffee offers a wide range of coffees and roast styles, prefer darker roasts.

The in-house Quality Grader curates and Quality Assures all of their coffee, which is one of the highest awards in the coffee industry!

What I like:

  • Great dark coffee selections
  • Food is on par
  • The roaster is visible as you enter to enjoy the process 

What I don’t like:

  • It’s a bit out of the city, so you’ll need your ride

12. 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters

49th Parallel Coffee Roasters is a gourmet coffee roasting company in Canada. Vince and Michael Piccolo launched the company in 2004.

Claridge Inc., a Montreal-based investment firm, established a strategic relationship with the company in January 2019.

49th Parallel Coffee Roasters is a well-known specialty coffee roaster in British Columbia, sourcing beans from farmers in Ethiopia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Kenya, Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, and other countries.

The coffee is kept in tiny quantities, roasted daily, packaged warm, and nitrogen blasted at all times. Finally, the 49th Parallel Crop to Cup philosophy’s highest goal is to offer exceptional coffee in each cup, with each roast, at all times.

What I like:

  • Nitrogen-flushed coffee beans

  • Epic espresso beans with a clean, sweet, floral scent
